Fever 1793
by Laurie Halse Anderson

View in Library Catalog

This book Fever 1793 is about a fever called yellow fever that spread through PA in 1793. 90% of the population got it from being in the heat. If you get it your eyes will turn yellow. This is a really good book, even though there are some deaths. The author is good because you can clearly see what she is writing in your head.

This book really got me. Some parts I loved is when August was in his new school, no one got along with him. Then a girl named Summer sat with him at lunch and got along really well. That was my favorite part. I would read this book again and again.

Really great! Stays true to the original Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, with just enough variation to appeal to modern readers. Beautiful ending. Highly recommend!

This was a really good memoir to read. It was interesting to see this insight on middle school, seeing as the target audience for this book is primarily kids in middle school. I don’t typically lean towards non-fiction, or memoirs, so it surprised me that I enjoyed it as much as I did. Reading this book makes the reader feel like they should take action and follow the author. It’s really inspiring following Maya through her ups and downs, and getting to learn something about yourself along the way. By the time you finish this book, you’ll be inspired and want to make a difference in your life as well

The Rifle

Read for book club, interesting book. Not much plot development, some sections of the book are rather irrelevant, but overall an okay fiction about gun safety in America.
